Garage Door Locks and Release Shielding
The Cheapest Security on the Door
If you only do one thing to a garage, do this one.
Every automatic door has an emergency release so it can be opened in a power cut. On many doors that cord hangs close enough to the top edge that a stiff wire pushed through the weather seal can hook it. The opener disconnects and the door lifts by hand, from outside, in well under a minute, with no damage left behind.
Ahlanart shields releases and fits locks across Long Beach.
Release Shielding
A shield fits over the release mechanism so a hook cannot catch it, while the cord still works normally from inside. On some doors repositioning the cord is enough, moving it out of reach of the gap without making it awkward to use in an actual power cut.
That last part matters. The release exists for a reason, and a security fix that stops you opening your own door when the power is out has traded one problem for a worse one. Everything we fit stays usable by hand from inside.
Track Locks and Slide Bolts
A manual lock that drops into the track physically stops the door lifting, regardless of the opener or its code.
Worth fitting if you travel, if the house sits empty for stretches, or if the garage holds tools and bikes. Not something most people use daily, which is fine. It is for the weeks away, not the school run.
The Door Into the House
The best value item we fit, and the one most often missing.
The door between an attached garage and the kitchen or hallway usually has a passage latch, the kind with no key, because it feels like an interior door. But it is an exterior door in every sense that counts, since the garage is the part someone can get into unseen.
A deadbolt costs very little and turns a garage break-in back into a garage break-in rather than a house one.
Hardware Tightening
Worn rollers and loose hinges let the top corner of a panel be pulled outward far enough to reach through. Tightening hinges, replacing dry rollers with sealed nylon, and checking track alignment closes that, and makes the door noticeably quieter as a side effect.
Old Remotes and Keypad Codes
If you have moved house, had building work done, or lost a remote, the receiver may still be paired to devices you do not hold. Clearing the memory and re-pairing takes minutes.
What We Will Not Compromise
The photo eyes and the contact reversal stay exactly as required and get tested before we leave. A garage door that cannot reverse on an obstruction is dangerous whatever else has been fitted to it.
