Treating the Garage as Part of the House

Ahlanart works on garage doors across Long Beach with a particular focus on how they get opened by people who should not be opening them. We are on Anaheim St in the 90813 ZIP.

Most garage break-ins are not forced. They are opened, using the emergency release cord through the top seal, or a captured signal from a fixed-code opener. Both leave no damage, which is why they often go unnoticed until something is missing.

What We Look At

• The code type of the opener. Fixed code can be captured and replayed. Rolling code cannot.
• The emergency release. Whether it can be reached from outside, and shielding it if so.
• Locks. A track lock for absences, and a deadbolt on the door into the house.
• The hardware. Loose hinges and worn rollers let a corner be flexed far enough to reach through.
• Paired devices. Old remotes and keypad codes still in memory after a move or a contractor visit.

What We Will Not Do

We will not touch the safety systems. The photo eyes and the contact reversal stay exactly as required, and both get tested before we leave. Security work that stops the door reversing on an obstruction is a hazard, not an upgrade.
